A quick excerpt from an entertaining Mother Jones interview with Joss Whedon.

...some people might take this as stereotyping, but I’ve described television as feminine and movies as masculine, in the sense that television wants to examine a problem from all sides and talk about it for a long time. Movies just want to GET TO THE POINT AND THEN LEAVE. They just want to hit the climax and maybe have a smoke.

That is awesome!

Though, sometimes Joel is the "talk about it for a long time" character in our relationship and I am the "GET TO THE POINT AND THEN LEAVE" girl. Words? Confrontation? Much too much for me.

Honestly, had it not been Joss (a vocal supporter of gender equality, female empowerment, etc.), I may not have found it quite as amusing. :-) But there's also the fact that this fits very much with my relationship to Shane (who patiently sits through hours of analysis from yours truly).
